Simon Cardone - JW Brands Ambassador

Simon Cardone reckons his passion for fishing was ignited during fishing trips on the Port River estuary with his uncle over 30 years ago. Simon fondly recalls targeting bream and mulloway, collecting live bait such as tubeworms, and even making sinkers. Interestingly, Simon’s favourite bream fishing rod was a black and red Jarvis Walker that he received for Christmas at ten years of age.
Simon now lives on the Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia with his wife and two young children. He loves nothing more than hooking up the tinny and heading for destinations far and wide to chase anything that swims in both fresh and saltwater. However, his core passion is lure fishing for native freshwater species such as Murray cod and golden perch.

Simon’s addiction to catching native fish motivated him to start writing about his fishing adventures. He is now a regular contributor and columnist in Fishing SA Magazine and his articles have also graced the pages of national magazines such as Freshwater Fishing Australia and Sport Fishing Australia. Simon has also been involved with numerous fishing clubs over the years.
Residing close to the coastal waters of Gulf St. Vincent, snapper and King George whiting are also some of Simon’s favourite targets, especially when he’s on the hunt for a family feed. Another common fishing haunt is the Coorong estuary where he targets mulloway, bream and salmon.

Simon also loves exploring the waters of Australia’s tropical north for species such as giant trevally, Spanish mackerel, sailfish, queenfish, golden snapper, mangrove jack and barramundi. He plans to continue his adventures to remote inshore and offshore fishing locations around Australia and abroad to tick more species off his bucket list.
After a decade in the wine industry, Simon made a shift to the tackle industry and now works at Tackle World Adelaide. Working in fishing retail helps Simon to keep abreast of the latest fishing gear and techniques. It also provides him with an opportunity to share his vast fishing knowledge with customers.
Simon aims to inspire, entertain and educate anglers of all ages. For him, fishing is about living life to the fullest and making every day an adventure. We hear you, Simon!
